I have a lot of facial hair and I shave 3 times a week. I am 14 years 10 months old 5'41/2. My dad is like 5'6 and my mom is 5'0. Does this mean I will get a growth spurt soon? In the past 10 months I have only grown 1/2 an inch. Why am I not growing?

If you are a female, I think it means that menopause has arrived. I have seen a lot of hairy short guys in my life, and I just read an answer that said the more you shave the longer, thicker and darker your hair will grow back, so I am at a loss. I do know enough from med school to tell you that you don't stop growing for at least another four years, so don't worry about it!

UH-oh....my son has grown past his growth spurt before having those tell-tale facial hair. He is now 16 and almost 6 ft tall...he began his growth spurt at the age of 13 and it slowly stopped at the age of 15..(at 5ft 10 inches tall)...now, he's having those little facial hair growing, he's 5ft 11.5inches at the age of 16

Growth spurts can happen any time during adolescence. The peach fuzz may or may not be related, but it's a good sign that you're developing at a normal pace. I didn't really spurt until I was 16. Be patient, but do realize that you're not going to be much taller than your dad, so don't expect to suddenly be a walk-on center!

I wouldn't say that the excess facial hair is the problem, but I know that unwanted facial is a sign of possibly PCOS, which I was diagnosed with in my late teens. The doctors have told me that women with PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) often have a difficult time getting pregnant.

I haven't tried to get pregnant myself, but you may want to do a bit of research on PCOS or talk to your doctor about any recent changes that you have had - such as the onset of unwanted facial hair. Hope this helps.

It sounds like your body isn't producing enough estrogen and too much testosterone, which could definately be why you aren't getting pregnant. However, I don't think the male hormones necessarily "kill off" the sperm....talk to your doc about it.....

There is a condition called PCOS, which has that as one of its symptoms, because of a hormonal imbalance, but that is often diagnosed for women with irregular periods, and other symptoms such as obesity, etc. You should check with your gynecologist, though, and have some hormone tests done.

please see your doctor and ask to be tested for pcos. excessive hair, obesity, irregualr periods, and insulin resistance are the most common signs. you might want to take a look at soulcysters.com It was YEARS before I was diagnosed-largely in fact to the excessive hair. but having excessive hair does not mean you have too many male hormones which is killing the sperm. with pcos, cysts form on the ovaries which can lead to infertility. however, there are medications to help alleviate pcos and bring the possibility of a baby.
