Why can't politicians have facial hair?

if i ran for president, i'd rock the president cut but with an old western mustache and a beard. it seems like politicians today can't have facial hair. Booooo! what gives?

Ironically, my history class had a discussion about this very subject. If you look back in time, many of the early presidents had facial hair. Infact, if you didn't have facial hair, and you ran for president, you probably wouldn't get the position. We came to the conclusion that the facial hair thing is like a fad. It goes out of style, then it comes back, then it goes out again, then it comes back. Personally, I think that it would be refreshing to see a president with facial hair run for office. I'd probably vote for him.
